Does your bathroom need a serious do-over? Remodeling your bathroom can be a great way to give your house a fresh uplift, and it’s a smaller commitment than remodeling some of the larger rooms. But it’s important to follow some tips before so you don’t find yourself overwhelmed!
Have Everything Ready To Go
Don’t start your remodel project until you have everything from the vanity to the plumbing fixtures, lights and tiles. It might be hard to wait until everything arrives, but you’ll find yourself far more frustrated if you tear up your bathroom and are left with a huge mess while you wait for those final few pieces to come in. It’s just much easier to put the process together when you have everything there on hand.
Make a Splurge or Two
You’re remodeling your bathroom; it’s a big project so it’s worth a splurge on something you really love! The idea is that you’re going to be in love with the room when you’re done, so save pennies in some areas so you can have that mirror you absolutely adore, or the easy to use walk in bath you’ve always dreamed of. You deserve it!
Shop Around For Ideas
While you might be tempted to go with one of the selections of sinks or showers you see in Ikea or other furniture stores, shop around to make sure it’s really what you want. Even if you have to wait 4-6 weeks for a piece to be delivered, you’ll be much happier in the long run if it’s what you truly want. Shop online and in catalogs to get ideas of all that’s out there before you begin.
Use Accents
Specialty tiles like mosaics can be very expensive, but that doesn’t mean you can’t include them in your bathroom. Just choose a simpler piece for the majority of the design, and pick a few places to have accents of the specialty tile. Another option is to use these tiles as a border.
Update the Lighting
If you’re on a budget but want to really update the look of your bathroom without changing absolutely everything, go for the lighting. Modern lighting can update the entire look of the room without costing you an arm and a leg. Have a look in stores at the models and don’t forget to look online too.
