Your Handyman Wishes You Knew These Things

It tends to be the case, for me anyway, that I have a big pile of things on my to-do list. Most of the jobs are small little things around the house that need to be fixed; such as a broken window, changing the blades on the fan or even patching up the sprinkler inthe garden. I say that I’ll do it myself but deep down I know that even the most hardcore ‘DIYers’ come to a point when it’s time to hand over the reigns to someone else. All it takes is for you to call your local handyman service and the job will be done in no time at all.

So stop panicking or pushing those odd jobs to the back of your mind and get things sorted as soon as possible. It’ll give you more time over the weekend and your partner will stop complaining about the jobs you’ve promised to do.

Make sure that you chat to the handyman beforehand, do you research and also hire a trusted professional.

Try the local DIY store

Finding a handy man that comes recommended is the first step to guaranteeing quality results. If you’re not too handy yourself that that can seem like quite a big task at first. The best thing to do is head down to the local DIY store and ask if they have anyone they recommend. The added bonus of this is that the store will recommend someone they knows will do a good job but also someone who has an up-to-date account with them – the last thing you want is a handyman that hasn’t been paying his bills.

No Need To Read Up on DIY before He Arrives

If you’re not well versed in DIY then don’t waste your time, don’t spend hours of your life on Google or Youtube trying to decipher the best way to fix your home up. The handyman will more often than not be very happy to explain the details of the repair to you. Another thing to do is explain everything in great detail – if you don’t know all the technical terms then go in to details about the job you think needs to be carried out.

Have A Good Clean First

One mistake that people often make is that they don’t de-clutter the area that needs to be worked on. If the pace is clutter free then the project will be finished quickly and without any incidents. It also has the added bonus of not having to pay the handyman extra for hours worked because he had to clean the area.
